Our story
We built Relish because we couldn't answer one question.
Every night, the same question. “What do you want for dinner?” “I dunno, you pick.” And then nothing. Two people, both hungry, both fried from the day, both a little too polite to just call it. There was food in the fridge. We'd still end up ordering Thai.
The low point was a bag of chicken thighs. Neither of us would commit to cooking it, so we ordered out three nights running and then threw the chicken away.
That's a real forty dollars we spent dodging a thirty-second decision.
Here's the thing: we were never short on ideas. The internet has ten thousand dinners. The problem was deciding, together, when both of us would rather defer than choose. Recipe apps don't fix that. They hand you more options and leave the actual decision exactly where it was, stuck between two people who keep saying “you pick.”
So we built the smallest thing that would settle it. You snap the grocery receipt, because the best dinner is usually the one you can make with what you already bought. Relish turns it into a short lineup of real options. You both swipe, yes or no, on your own phones. The first thing you both want is dinner. No debate, no spreadsheet, no “idk what do you want” for the ninth time.

Cook nightsWe built it for our own kitchen first, and we still use it most weeknights. It's free, it doesn't store your receipt, and it exists for exactly one reason: so two people can stop arguing about dinner and go eat.
