Privacy Policy
The short version
Last updated June 18, 2026
Relish helps two people decide what is for dinner. To do that we need your email (so you can log in) and, if you choose, a photo of your grocery receipt (so we can suggest meals you can actually make). We read the receipt once and do not store it. We do not run ads, we do not use tracking pixels, and we never sell or rent your information. You can ask us to delete everything at any time by emailing hello@relishmealdecider.com. The rest of this page spells out the details.
Relish (“we,” “us,” or “the app”) is a small product built by Jordan and Brittany. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we rely on to run the service, and the choices you have. It applies to the Relish website at relishmealdecider.com, the web app at app.relishmealdecider.com, and the Relish iOS and Android apps.
What we collect
- Your email address. We use it only to send your sign-in code and to keep you logged in. We do not add you to a marketing list.
- Your grocery receipt (optional). If you snap or paste a receipt, we send it once to our meal engine to pull out the grocery items and suggest dinners. The image and its text are processed in the moment and are not saved to our database.
- Your dinner choices. The options you swipe yes or no on, the matches you and your partner land on, and the pantry items you mark as used up. This is what makes the shared session work.
- Basic technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard request logs (for example IP address, browser type, and timestamps) to keep the service running and secure. We do not use these to build a profile of you.
What we do not do
- No ads. We do not show ads or work with ad networks.
- No ad trackers, no website analytics. Our website embeds no advertising or analytics trackers. The iOS app uses Firebase Analytics for basic app-usage insights, listed below.
- No selling your data. We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
How your receipt is handled
When you scan a receipt, the image or text is sent to Google’s Gemini API, which reads the items and helps generate dinner ideas. We send only what is needed to do that, we receive the suggestions back, and we do not keep a copy of the receipt image. Google’s handling of that request is governed by its own terms and privacy policy. If you would rather not share a receipt at all, you can skip it and still swipe on a default set of dinners.
Who we share data with
We use a short list of trusted service providers to run Relish. They only receive what they need to do their job, and each has its own privacy policy:
- Supabase. Hosts our database and handles sign-in. Stores your email, sessions, swipes, and pantry. Privacy policy
- Google (Gemini API). Reads your receipt and helps suggest meals. Privacy policy
- Resend. Delivers your sign-in code email. Privacy policy
- Vercel. Hosts the website and app. Privacy policy
- Firebase Analytics (Google). In the iOS app only, helps us see how the app is used (for example, which screens get opened) so we can improve it. Not used on the website. Privacy policy
How long we keep things
Your account and dinner history stay until you ask us to remove them. Receipts are not retained beyond the moment they are read. If you delete your account, we delete your email and the dinner data tied to it. Backups and standard server logs may persist for a short, routine period before they cycle out.
Your choices
- Try it without an account. You can swipe on a few dinners before we ask you to sign in.
- See or delete your data. Email hello@relishmealdecider.com and we will share a copy of what we have or delete it, whichever you ask for.
- Log out anytime. You can log out from the settings screen in the app.
Children
Relish is meant for adults deciding on dinner and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we will remove it.
Security
We sign you in with a one-time email code rather than a password, so there is no password to leak. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe.
Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change, we will update this page and the date at the top. Continuing to use Relish after a change means you accept the updated policy.
